Air Fryer Croutons – Olive oil version

We are slightly obsessed with ceasar salad and it only just occurred to me to make my own croutons! The shop bought ones go soft in the bag. I am therefore beginning the air fryer crouton experiment. First up, olive oil croutons.

A bit uneven, but I think that was because I didn't mix it well enough. Next time I'll go in with my hands. Overall 8/10, better flavour than shop bought but slightly less crunch.

Next week, butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 slice bread of choice (for 2 salads)

  • 1 ½ tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian herbs

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut the bread into bite sized cubes and add to a large bowl

  2. Drizzle over the olive oil.

  3. Add garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper.

  4. Toss the bowl to mix.

  5. Add the cubes to the air fryer basket in one even layer and air fry at 200C for 2 mins.

  6. Open the air fryer and give a light shake to move around the pieces

  7. Cook for a further 1-3 mins depending on how golden you would like them to be.

  8. Remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with salt while they are still hot.

  9. Allow to cool slightly to become extra crunchy.
