Butter-Braised Cabbage

This is a nice dish to switch up your Sunday roast veg. Yes mum - another one full of butter! People don't need a recipe for salad though.




Ingredients


  • 1 small head cabbage - any works

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • Salt

  • 2-3 tbsp stock (optional but stops the butter burning and adds flavour)

Method


  1. Heat 3 tablespoons butter in a large pot over medium-low heat until mostly melted.

  2. Add cabbage and coat.

  3. Place stock (if using) and remaining 1 tablespoon butter on top of the cabbage.

  4. Cover and cook until cabbage is tender, about 10 minutes.

  5. Uncover and stir cabbage to coat evenly with butter mix.

  6. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, about 3 minutes.

  7. Season with black pepper.
