Cheesy ham & broccoli pasta

Not for me this one, broccoli shouldn't be invading pasta, but Alix loves it so needs must.



Ingredients


  • 300g pasta

  • 1 head of broccoli, cut into small florets (I used tenderstem instead)

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed

  • 250g ham, cut into chunks

  • 300ml double cream

  • 1 tbsp English mustard

  • 140g mature cheddar, grated


Method


  1. Bring a large pan of water to the boil and cook the pasta, adding the broccoli florets to the pan for the final 4 mins.

  2. Heat the oil in a large pan and cook the onion for 5 mins to soften.

  3. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 min more.

  4. Stir in the ham, cream and mustard, then bring to the boil.

  5. Add the pasta and broccoli, then stir in the cheese, coating everything in the sauce.
