Classic Ranch Dressing

I adore ranch but I have to buy it from weird import sites or pay a fortune through Amazon as it's just no good in the UK. This is EXCELLENT. The buttermilk powder still needs sourcing but it's pretty cheap on ebay or specialist sites.


You make the dry ingredients seasoning separately and can store for future use.

Ingredients

 

Seasoning (make a batch to keep)

  • 1½ tsp dried chives

  • 1 tsp dried parsley

  • 1 tsp dried dill

  • 1 tbsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ¼ tsp mustard powder  

  • 2 tbsp buttermilk powder (optional but recommended)


Dressing

  • ½ cup chilled sour cream or mayonnaise

  • ½ cup chilled buttermilk

 

Method

 

Seasoning

  1. Whisk all the ingredients together.

  2. Transfer to an airtight container and store until ready to use, it will keep indefinitely.


To make

  1. Mix 1 tbsp seasoning mix with sour cream/mayonnaise and buttermilk and whisk until smooth.

  2. Refrigerate, covered, up to 2 days (or up to 2 weeks if made with mayonnaise).
